Extra Happy Happy
EXTRA HAPPY HAPPY takes as its’ starting point the modern traveller. With reference to modern cultural icons such as ‘The Beach’ and ‘Apocalypse Now’, the show weaves a plot of sorts around one man’s ambition to find the land where they feed you deep-fried pizzas sprinkled with industrial-strength marijuana. The show follows Jonny and Lloyd on their travels in the fictional country of Mao-Sai-Ek, as both try to achieve their very different ideas of having the time of their lives. Taking apart the world of the modern travelling experience with huge abandon, Extra Happy Happy is a magnificent collision of the satirical, the rude and the very silly.
‘Extra Happy Happy’ will appeal to anyone over sixteen and especially to anyone who has ever travelled, anywhere, ever, in any land, abroad, fullstop.
Reviews:
“ .. With ‘Extra Happy Happy’, the company have arrived at a highly successful style which mixes energetic physical and verbal comedy in a fast paced show that appeals to anyone who is about to, or has set off, or remembers setting off on their gap-year travels. Big Wow will certainly add laughs and something special to your main programmes or comedy seasons.”
Graeme Phillips (Artistic Director/Unity Theatre, Liverpool)
‘Extra Happy Happy was more fun than is strictly legal. Playing to a very enthusiastic audience this tale of gap year mishaps was perfect for our student audience. Undoubtedly the hit of the Northern Exposure Festival here at the Theatre in the Mill.’
Iain Bloomfield (Artistic Director, Theatre in the Mill, Bradford)
‘We programmed Extra Happy Happy as part of the welcome week for new students at the University of Wolverhampton in October 2004, and I don’t think we could have chosen a better show to welcome them to their new student lives .. it went down a storm! Very funny and packed with gags and references to which they could relate – some seemed to be relating to it a little too well .. The ultimate high! F**king wow, like seriously wow!’
